40K: Sisters of Battle Canoness Reveal
Games Workshop is back with a new Battle Sister Bulletin and this one is showing off the brand new model for the Canoness!
It’s another new Plastic Sisters of Battle model and this one is leading the charge – say hello to the Canoness:
Canonesses are the martial and spiritual commanders of the Orders Militant of the Adepta Sororitas. Each is a shining example of purity and dedication of purpose, a veteran warrior of hundreds of battles and a slayer of the faithless in numerous war zones. To be a Canoness requires a combination of strong leadership, shrewd tactical acumen and unmatched faith in the Emperor.
Here’s the first look at the 3D sculpt of the model. Like many of the other Sisters we’ve seen before, this one is sporting the iconography of her office. Her collar, for example, is a nod to the fleur-de-lys imagery you can find throughout the line. On top of that, she’s also got quite a few more items representing her office.
Her rod is symbol of her status and and inspiration to the troops under her command.
The rosary she carries is a symbol of hope and also a physical representation of virtuous deeds she has committed for the glory of the God-Emperor. At the end of her rosary is the Chaplet Ecclesiasticus which also has quite a lot of detail. I’m sure GW is going to be able to capture all that in the final plastic model…
And finally, one other detail that GW pointed out was that she has a bionic leg. Clearly this Canoness as made sacrifices in the name of the Emperor and she will continue to do so until her final breath.
We still don’t have a firm release date from GW for when these Sisters are shipping, but it’s already August – we’ll see if they can release these ladies of faith before the year is out!
What do you think of the Canoness from Games Workshop?
