Warhammer 40K: Heroes Of Escalation In 40K Proper
The explorers of Escalation are unique heroes with their own quirks and powers they can use in Blackstone Fortress… or your 40K army.
That’s right folks, today we’re taking a look at the Explorers of the new Blackstone Fortress expansion, Escalation–only we’re looking at what they bring to the 40K table. Come set what this Grimdark Breakfast Club does if you put them in your army.

First up, the head honcho, Rogue Trader Neyam Shai Murad, who leads this retinue of eclectic weirdos.
She is clearly the Molly Ringwald of the bunch, with her stylish clothes and her fancy negotiating pistols that make her an excellent shot on the tabletop. Especially since she gets 8 shots when she doesn’t move.
Then we have Gotfret de Montbard, the Imperial Crusader who is obviously the Jock.
He even kinda looks like Emilio Estevez. And just like the jock who would go on to coach the Mighty Ducks to victory, Gotfret rerolls failed hits on a charge, and hits twice on unmodified sixes.
Ariada Madellan is the Ally Sheedy of the bunch, with her creepy psychic powers marking her as an outcast.
But just like in the Breakfast Club, opening up and realizing who your real friends are is where true power lies.
Which brings us to Daedalosus, who is pretty much Anthony Michael Hall.
Right down to the secret archeotech that either heals you or harms you depending on if you’re friends or not. You do have to be a nerd though to benefit from the healing powers of it.
That just leaves the creepy servitor X-101 to be the creepy Judd Nelson of the bunch.
He even works out his aggression through the heavy weapons and salvage protocols baked into what once was a consciousness. So there you go.
They might have to sacrifice a Saturday in the Blackstone Fortress, but in the end they learned that each of them is a Technoarcheologist… and a Crusader and a Primaris Psyker and a Rogue Trader and a Servitor. Does that answer your question?
Sincerely, the Escalation Club.
