Warhammer 40K: Kill Team Starter Set Unboxed
The new version of the Kill Team Starter Set is coming soon – check out what you’re getting in the box!
It’s a brand new version of the Kill Team Starter Set – this time with T’au and Space Wolves fighting over the Sector Mechanicus!
New Box, New Factions
Hopefully at this point, the insides of the box won’t be a surprise. Miniature-wise you’re getting:
- 5 Primaris Space Marines Reivers
- 10 T’au Empire Fire Warriors w/2 Drones
- 6* Frames of Sector Mechanicus Scenery
Now, we have that * by the 6 because we counted 7 sprues in our box, but all the details we found from the product page listed 6. That could be because GW isn’t counting one of the double Sprues as a separate thing – because you need both to build the terrain piece. We’re not exactly sure how GW defines a “frame” of terrain. Regardless of how you slice it, it’s still a good chunk of stuff you can build for the Kill Team Board.
In terms of Kill Teams, we kind of covered this already with our Pricing Breakdown Post – but you get two very different options with the Space Marine Primaris Reivers or the T’au Fire Warriors.
In the box, the only thing that makes them Space Wolf Primaris Reivers is the water slide transfer sheet that is included. But if you aren’t playing Space Wolves, you can totally use these Reivers as pretty much any other chapter. Same with the T’au Fire Warriors – they are just 10 generic guys for T’au. On the plus side, each of these kits is the full set of sprues – so at least you’re not missing any options
As far as the rest of the components – you do get 2 booklets that outline the respective Kill Teams. Plus the Core Rulebook for Kill Team, too. You also get tokens and cards for each team as well as dice for playing. You even get a clear range finder in the box. If you have a set of clippers, a hobby knife, and some glue you’ll be up and running in no time flat!
Realistically, this is the essentially the same contents as the box from last year – only GW swapped out the Terrain sets and Kill Teams. So if you missed last years (or didn’t want the factions in the box) this is a great launching point to get you into Kill Team.
It’s the Space Wolves vs T’au in Close Quarters with Kill Team!
