Oh man – this new Rumor Engine is going to have a certain subset of players very excited. Which ones? Take a look:

Guessing games are beloved, time-honoured traditions for people of just about every era and culture. Perhaps that’s why we clamour for the merest glimpse of some amazing, yet unknowable future model. Here’s another one for you.

BOOM! While this might be in black and white this image is saying quite a bit. We’ve got a bludgeoning weapon for starters and that weapon has spikes attached. It’s also got a center spike and looks to be affixed to a handle – that technically makes it a morning star. Regardless, what’s also telling is the fact that this particular weapon appears to be made from different materials. In particular, you have the metal spikes, handle, and capstone formed around what appears to be a solid block of another material. And that material is chipped and worn. Stone perhaps?

Did someone say STONE?!

Well now I can’t unsee that. My best guess is that we’ve got a new Lizardmen Seraphon model on the way! And it fits the design. Check out the Kroxigor’s weapons in detail:

Metal affixed to stone. It’s hard to argue that one! Plus this weapon has a certain amount of artistry to it – like the smith who made it actually wanted it to look good AND be functional vs bolted on scrap metal.

I suppose the next question is what Seraphon unit would be wielding these weapons? New Saurus Warriors? New Kroxigors? New…Skinks? Personally, I’m hoping for a “Battle-Slaan” even though I know that’s probably never going to happen.

This chair is just way too comfortable.

Speculation aside, the Seraphon are due a new book. It’s been long enough and while they are still a strong spell-slinging army they could use an update – and all the new models that GW can throw at them. That said, we’ve seen GW take MONTHS for these Rumor Engines to pan out. So if you are a Seraphon player, get excited…but be prepared for a long wait.

What do you think? Are a new brood of lizardmen on the way or do you think we’re going to get something completely different? Drop your best guesses in the comments!
