Warhamer Age Of Sigmar: The Forces Of The Cities Of Sigmar
With a new battletome on the horizon, seven Cities of Sigmar will be bringing their best and brightest to the fray. Here’s what they’ll field.
Alright folks. The Cities of Sigmar are about to open their gate and allow the mortals of the Mortal Realms to take to the battlefields (as well as players to use their old Warhammer Fantasy models with updated rules). Here’s a look at the various cities, as well as the forces fighting on their behalf. Consider this your guide to the Cities of Sigmar and their forces.

If there’s an Mortal Realms equivalent to Altdorf, it’s Hammerhal. The Twin-tailed city that is the home of the Stormcasts, it spans two different Realms–Ghyran and Aqshy, and it’s a home for your favorite Empire mini–the Steam Tank, as well as some classic dwarf gunners.
The Greywater Fastness on the other hand is where you’ll get your artillery fix. If you want volley cannons, Dwarven Engineers and the rest of the Ironweld Arsenal (which is pretty much all the non big cannon forces), the Greywater Fastness has you covered.
Alternatively, if you want your High Elf fix, because you’ve been dying to trot out your old white lions or Phoenix Guard–and who could blame you, there were just so many halberds and big pointy winged hats), then you’ll be wanting a Phoenicium army, which is full of enough haughtiness for the most die-hard Ulthuan defender.
Or conversely if you like your elves a little more murdery, and maybe with more spikes and tattered goth clothing, then you’ll want the bustling port city of Anvilgard, which, despite its dwarf-sounding name, is actually home to the dark elves of old.
And if you’re looking for dwarves, you’ll want to turn to the stormy city of Tempest’s Eye, which despite its name is home to the old Hammerers and associated forces. Get your beardy, bashing jollies in with these folks.
The other home to old Empire relics is Hallowheart, which is where you’ll find some of the more esoteric Empire units like the Celestial Hurricanum, now on a round base instead of a square one.
Of course, you’ll be able to mix and match your forces from across the cities–the Mortal Realms’ population centers are very cosmopolitan. But there’s a general theme to each of these that has us full of Fantasy Flavor.
Which city will you be defending?
