Warhammer 40K: GW, Please Replace These Finecast Miniatures
Oh boy – these models haven’t really aged well and are actually important to their respective ranges. GW, PLEASE replace these finecast miniatures.
After the great finecast census of 2019, here at BoLS we went back and check out the miniatures on that list and man…some of them are in desperiate need of replacement. The other issue is that these models are actually useful (or COULD BE useful) in their respective armies if players could be convinced to use them. A few of these models even have had plastic kits that were created for boxed sets but never re-released individually. Anyhow, let’s take a look at the finecast models that need to be replaced!
Techmarine with Servitors
When we saw the Iron Hands get a new Techmarine in plastic and as a Primaris Marine, we were pumped! We were hoping that maybe we’d see the old finecast kit get replaced along with those poor servitors. Unfortunately, that didn’t happen and this kit is still around. The Techmarine isn’t bad – the issue is that this is a model that just about every Space Marine army can use – but no one wants to mess with it. Give it a new model and we just might see an uptick in Techmarines on the tabletop.
Commissar
There are a couple different Commissar kits and all of them are finecast. The models are mostly fine, but again, the issue is that this is a model that can be widely used by players and is still in finecast. Let’s get the Commissar on the train to Plastic-town already!
Deffkopta
Whoa. Yes – THIS KIT IS STILL AVAILABLE. This is one of those kits that actually had a plastic replacement but for whatever reason GW never replaced the old metal one with the plastic option. Instead, they converted the metal one to finecast and it’s currently still there for sale…I just don’t have words.
Mutilator/Obliterator Kit
Hey – didn’t we get plastic Obliterators? Oh wait…we never got a solo kit for those, did we? And what about the Mutilators?! Those are still finecast, too! Gee…I wonder if we’re ever going to see an updated plastic combo kit for these models. As for now: Were are my plastic Obliterator kits!!!?!?
Bio/Pyrovore Kit
And finally we have the Bio/Pyrovore kits. These are still only available in finecast. Why GW hasn’t made a dual-combo kit for them in plastic yet is beyond me. Plus, do we really want kids to stare too long at these models. Think of the children, GW – think of children!
Other than “ALL” – which finecast miniatures would you like to see Games Workshop tackle next?
