Geekery: ‘Are You Afraid of the Dark’ is Back to Tell Another Scary Tale
The SNICK favorite is coming back to scare a new generation of kids – and you can watch the first episode for free right here, right now.
I never thought I’d be talking about Saturday Night Nickelodeon as an adult, but here I am. The 1990s line up included show like Clarissa Explains it All, Ren and Stimpy, The Adventures of Pete and Pete, and Are You Afraid of the Dark? was a weekend staple for anyone that grew up in the decade.
The spooky tale focused series was Nickelodeon’s answer to HBO’s Tales from the Crypt, and took cues from classic horror anthology shows like Tales from the Darkside and Thriller. A group of kids, who dubbed themselves The Midnight Society, gather around a fire every week and tell scary stories. Remember these faces? I do.
The Midnight Society returns to Nick this month, and you can watch the first episode for free. The rest of the story will air on Nickelodeon every Friday at 7e/6c – episode two dropped last night and you should be able to get it on demand if you’re a subscriber.
