GW Rumor Engine: Mechanical Wing-Dings
Wing-dings? Wings-and-things? Wings-and-more? Mechanically speaking of course. It’s a new Games Workshop Rumor Engine.
A picture is worth a thousand words or so the saying goes. So take a look a this picture and get caught-up on your reading for the day:

“We’ve been working with the Ironweld Engineers to fix the Rumour Engine, but its mysteries elude even their prodigious skills. We’re embarrassed to admit it, but for now, you’ll have to settle for this cropped image of what we can only assume is a really incredible model. “
This is really cool! we have what appears to be the wing-joint of some type of mechanical construct. It’s oddly familiar looking to be thanks to the wing of the Tyranid Hive Tyrant.
While this Rumor Engine is clearly a mechanical version and the Tyrant’s wing is organic, they share a lot of the same base structure. Even the metal, segmented rods imitate the Tyrant’s wings. That’s kind of a neat throwback.
Having said all that, this is clearly not for a new Mechano-Tyranid (although that would 100% radical). It’s look’s like it could be from either the Grimdark or the Mortal Realms honestly. GW did say in their intro that they have “been working with the Ironweld Engineers to fix the Rumour Engine,” and the Ironweld Engineers are from the Cities of Sigmar. Perhaps that is a clue as to what system it’s for. Then again it might be a red herring to throw us off the trail.
For some reason, I keep thinking this is from the Adeptus Mechanicus range. I say that for three reasons. The first is that the ball-and-socket joint design looks very Imperial. The next thing is the rivets. The Imperium loves their rivets. The final thing, and I think the strongest case for something from the Ad Mech, is the spikes. They aren’t the crazy chaos spikes you might see, they are the subtle spikes of the Ad Mech vehicles like the Dunecrawler or the Dragoon:
Also the Ad Mech have some funky designs that tend to mimic organic structures but with that same mechanical vibe. I think the Ad Mech are probably the strongest candidate for the Rumor Engine. Then again, we are only getting a small section to look at – who knows what else is around this frame. I bet it’s going to be one wild looking miniature!
What do you think? What is this thing we’re looking at and what faction do you think it’s a part of?
