ToyLand: Gunpla Builders World Cup Winners Showcase
This year’s winners have been announced and they are totally amazing. Even if you’re not a Gunpla fan, you’ll want to look at these beautiful displays.
This is year eight for the Builders World cup. Competitors from sixteen countries push the boundaries of the medium to take home the trophy and title of best builder. The best in category for every country is chosen by Katsumi Kawaguchi (professional modeler and director marketing department of the Gundam model kit line at Bandai) – criteria includes paint, modification, original design, and presentation.
You can see all of the winners (going back to the founding of the competition in 2011) on the Bandai Hobby Site. I’ve highlighted a few personal favorites from this year, most are based on PG and MG kits all with expertly done conversions, weathering and paint job, and custom scenics.
