I finally played Last Days by Osprey Games and was it ever fun!  For those who have not tried it, Last Days: Zombie Apocalypse is a 28mm skirmish miniatures game. In it, you use any miniatures you want. The game is considered miniatures agnostic. Do you have Zombicide? Use those miniatures. If you have stuff by WizKids or GW, you can use those too. The point is to have fun!

Your Final Days

In Last Days, you play the part of a hero. You can be “selfish,” an “everyday hero,” or an “elite and trained combat veteran.” Whichever leader you choose will affect the composition of your team. You then gather a team of survivors. This group generally contains 6 to 12 individuals including your leader. If you want to take less, that is fine. If you want more then there are ways around that too. You buy bunk beds for your refuge.

Your Refuge? That’s right, between sessions you build a base. That base helps give you in-game bonuses, but if you lose your base, you are in for a lot of trouble.

For more about the game, check out my initial review on Bell of Lost Souls or the longer review on my personal site.

Living it Large

Being a survivor in a Zombie Apocalypse World, you do what you can to survive. Below are some pictures from my latest battle report. Make sure you check it out if this sort of game interests you.

Last Days: Zombie Apocalypse

Here two survivors square off against a single zombie. Combat is a little easier if you team up!

The opposite is true too. The more zombies that team up against you, the more you are done for.

A look at the table at the start of the battle. Two survivor groups square off for a match of resource collection. Neither group engages the other as there are enough zombies to worry about on the table without attacking the others.

Working together as a team makes for a more survivable group. There are no individuals here unless you wish to end as a zombie. We all act as one. You are part of the team now.

These images are meant to give you a taste. If you like what you see, why not read through the whole battle report?

Enjoy Life While You Can

Last Days has a full set of campaign rules within. If you are not careful, your characters could die or even become zombies themselves. Ash Barker even wrote an expansion that takes things further.

Wrapping it up…

Hopefully, you enjoyed this quick post. It is meant as eye-candy while giving you a bit of a taste of Osprey Games‘ Last Days: Zombie Apocalypse.

As a note, my friend Dave Lamers painted all of the miniatures in this post except one. That one I painted, but I won’t tell you which one that is.  🙂  Yes, for those curious, he does commission work too.

Thanks again for reading, and until next time, Happy Gaming Everyone!!!
