Warhammer 40K: Commander Shadowsun & Kelermorph Unboxed
Today we’ve got two new releases, the new Commander Shadowsun and the launch of GSC Kelermorph’s solo career (as a miniature). Join us!
Psychic Awakening is here, but the big book isn’t the only thing out this weekend. Today we’re going to show off the new Commander Shadowsun mini as well as the old Genestealer Cult Kelermorph, who is now available as an individually packaged model, so if you just want the Kelermorph and not the kill team, you’re good to go.
Both of these models have a lot of flavor. We really liked the new Commander Shadowsun–her crisis suit design feels pretty advanced, with sleeker legs and jump jet fins, a more dynamic overall feel, and we noticed that her gun-arms are detached from her powersuit arms:
Making Shadowsun the real Four-Armed Emperor we should all be following. And there’s an interesting change in her lore–Games Workshop has decided to address the T’au lifespan and the continuity of having hundreds of years pass over the course of a storyline. Commander Shadowsun is so awesome that her life has been upended for the Greater Good. She’s kept in suspended animation between the biggest, baddest battles, so that she can wake up and lead the T’au without having to somehow discover functional immortality like the Primarchs or finding a secret alien crone blade like Commander Farsight.
And since she gets a new battlesuit each time, it’s like waking up, being given the latest iPhone, and then using that to lead your troops into battle. Hope the T’au have some good UX designers.
Speaking of UX designers, take a look at the Kelermorph, who is in a way, the UX designer for the Genestealer cult. The Kelermorph is the promise of liberation and freedom from tyranny–promise that comes at the end of three different powerful revolvers. These are a symbol to the downtrodden, who aren’t aware that behind them is the full weight of a Tyranid Hive Fleet waiting to convert them all into biomass and recycle them.
Mmm, biomass. What do you think of the new minis? Let us know in the comments!
