Warhammer 40K: Makari Rules Preview – The Great Grot Awakens
Games Workshop is really building up the return of Makari – and now we’ve got a look at his new rules!
Apparently, rumors of Makari’s Demise were just lies spread by Imperial Agents. Now I’m starting to doubt the record of the 4th Edition Ork Codex…anyhow, the Luckiest Grot Alive is coming back and he’s got some fancy new rules to match his fancy new model.
One of the reasons that Makari has survived so long is because he’s no ordinary Gretchin. He’s stronger, tougher and has more Wounds than the rest of his kin. Not only that but he has an impressive WS of 4+, meaning that he only misses with half of his attacks.
You know, for a Gretchin, that’s actually a pretty good stat line. I wonder if he’ll have the Character Keyword so he can take advantage of THOSE shenanigans. He’s not only T3 with 4 Wounds, he’s also got a stupidly impressive Invulnerable save:
A 2+ Invulnerable is an extremely rare thing. I can’t wait to see this little guy tank a Knight or some other ridiculous combat/shot. That’s not all, either. He doesn’t just count his luck for defense, but if you manage to roll hot in combat, he can do some serious damage (for a Gretchin):
D3 Mortal Wounds on a 6+ is both random and hilarious. Personally, I’d be rooting for the little guy to shank folks in combat – even if I was facing off against him. And finally, Makari also has one other special rule to help inspire all those other Gretchin units out there:
Sure, it’s only a leadership 6 – but that’s higher than their regular leadership!
Gee, I wonder who Makari’s Boss is…
