Warhammer 40K: Valerian & Aleya – Talons of the Emperor Unboxed
A pair of new characters have jumped off the pages and onto the tabletop. Check out Valerian and Aleya in plastic!
The next chapter in the Watchers of the Throne series is out and along with that book, the two heroes have joined the tabletop. We’ve got our hands on the miniatures and are taking a closer look:
Talons of the Emperor
The box has both of these characters on a single sprue. This was a little surprising but they function as a team in the books and you have to take them as a single unit (that can act independent of each other) on the tabletop. The models themselves look great!
Not only are they unique sculpts from their respective faction, but they also come with unique base toppers that look good, too. I guess you don’t walk around the Imperial Palace on dirt floors and grass tuffs so standard basing need not apply.
The rules for these models do come in the box, but as GW noted:
“…you’ll notice that, by only having the Imperium Faction Keyword on their combined datasheet, Valerian and Aleya cannot currently join an Adeptus Custodes Detachment without the latter losing their Battle-forged bonus. “

That is unfortunate, but temporary – The Talons of the Emperor are going to get new rules in Psychic Awakening that will allow them to “fight as one once more” which means it’s only a matter of time.
These models are up for pre-order this weekend and you’ll be able to get them from your FLGS soon enough. They are a limited run so if you DO want to get your hands on these models, you might want to jump on the chance to get them quick. Watchers of the Throne Collection
