Games Workshop: Lockdown Update – Stores Reopening…Soon?
Games Workshop stores might be reopening sooner than we thought – depending on the local and governmental guidelines that is.
We’ve got a new Lockdown Update from Games Workshop concerning the reopening of their stores. There is a chance that a GW store near you *may* be reopening this week – but there are going to be some pretty big changes. Here is Games Workshop’s Andy Smillie with the latest:
“Wherever you are in the world, I hope you and your loved ones are safe and well.
There are the beginnings of good news on the horizon with some countries starting to test the waters and ease out of lockdown.
For all you Warhammer fans running low on plastic glue and Nuln Oil, that means there might soon be a Warhammer or Games Workshop store open near you. In line with local advice and government guidelines, some locations will reopen this week. The success of this pilot, and of course how the COVID-19 situation develops, will determine whether more open back up in the short term.”
The posts goes on to say that things in the store are probably going to be different as they are enforcing a “reduced level of service” in store. You won’t be able to play games in the store or enjoy the typical painting session. Plus, GW still isn’t fully up-and-running either. Which means stocks might be a tad more limited than typical. On top of all those changes there will also be signs for following the social distancing guidelines (as in washing hands and giving other space).
Another great tip is to check your local store’s Facebook page as well to see if they are open. If they ARE open (you lucky devil, you) you may also want to give them a call first to see if they have what you’re looking for in stock before you make the trip. I also really appreciated this advice as well:
“Please be sensible when deciding whether or not you should make the trip or whether that tenth Imperial Knight can wait!”
All really good points. These are strange times and we’re all in this one together so please be safe and take care of yourself.
Wash Your Hands!!!
Editor’s Note: As of writing there aren’t any stores currently open. You can use the GW Store Finder to search for locations near you.
