Riot Quest: Helga and Dogwood Race into the Apocalypse
From across the apocalyptic wasteland Riot Quest and Warmachine both gain 2 new crazy characters.
Chuck Dogwood
What started in the depths of a Privateer Press twitch chat is now a fully realized character for Riot Quest and Warmachine – it’s Chuck Dogwood!
Dogwood is a two part model, all metal on a small base.
Chuck Dogwood is a Guard hero all about teleportation. His Teleport action will guarantee you get to place an ally next to a Treasure spot…you just won’t know exactly which spot it’ll be. His Whistling Staff has the same effect for enemies, placing them next to a randomly determined Treasure spot after the attack. This may end up actually helping your opponent, so use cautiously!
The Wold Assistant Riot Gear card has a nice effect, always granting that Hero a bonus when rigging. Not a bad ability for 2 gold, although it once again comes with a chance to benefits your opponent if you fail your Rig attempt.
Helga On Wheels
One of the most highly anticipated releases, Helga on Wheels is both a Hero in Riot Quest and a new Warlock for Warmachine/Hordes! Atop a steampunk motorcycle, she may look strange on the pre-apocalypse battlefields of the Iron Kingdoms, but in the chaos of Riot Quest, she couldn’t possibly be more at home.
Helga on Wheels is a mix of resin and metal on a large base.
Not surprising for a model on a motorcycle, but Helga is fast! While SPD 4 by itself isn’t fast, Rush lets you run twice per activation. Combined with an excellent Caustic Fumes ability means you can get some easy damage on a model just by starting a move next to them. I love the idea of starting adjacent to an enemy, running and doing damage to them with Caustic Fumes, ending adjacent to them and attacking, then running again to deal another damage as Helga moves to safety.
The Junkyard Jetpack is a pricey piece of Riot gear but gives the wearer +1 SPD and Flight. This is going to enable some pretty crazy movement shenanigans and I’m excited to see what people come up with!
What do you think of Helga on Wheels and Chuck Dogwood, which model are you most excited to add to your treasure hunting crew?
