Age of Sigmar: 3 Artifacts that Make Me Laugh
Here’s three magic items from the Mortal Realms that have always give me a chuckle.
Across the Realms, there are hundreds of powerful, sinister, or god-like magical artefacts that heroes can utilize to give them the edge in battle. However, there are also a few artefacts that, while still powerful and horrifying, can have some silly implications. Here are three AoS artefacts that make me laugh.
Cloak of Feathers
A Skink who takes this item gets a little harder to pin down with shooting, adds 4” to their movement, and can fly. Powerful as that is, it gets even scarier when you smack it on an Engine of the Gods or Stegadon with a Skink Chief. However, scary though it may be, I can’t help but laugh at the idea of the Skink wearing a Skink sized cloak and still getting enough lift to make the Stegadon fly. The image in my head is of the Gronckle from the How to Train Your Dragon films just buzzing along.
The Brass Orb
An artefact from Clan Skryre, the Brass Orb can tear a hole in reality to suck an enemy hero into the Realm of Chaos. This can render even the mightiest of heroes like Nagash or Archaon to scrap, and can easily turn the tide of the battle, but you can only ever use it once, so pick your target carefully. But wait…a small orb, can pull in anything, breaks after use…that sounds like something else from pop culture to me. Therefore, whenever I have that item equipped, I have to say to myself, “Pokeball go!” It’s funny to imagine that somewhere on a shelf in an alternate universe, an Arch-Warlock has Nagash, Archaon, and the Celestant-Prime in tiny balls.
Spell in a Bottle
Honestly this one is one of my favorites, and I love that they managed to give the Duardin a way to cast the cataclysmic spells the other races can. However, it still always makes me giggle just a little to think of a spell of that strength to be sucked inside a tiny glass bottle. Even though every time I’ve faced that down it has severely frustrated me, it makes me very happy at the same time to imagine the process of getting it in there.
