Age of Sigmar: The Light of Eltharion Spotlight
Games Workshop is taking a closer look at one of the most unique miniatures they have ever produced – The Light of Eltharion!
Eltharion is back and has a new form in the Mortal Realms. This champion from The World-That-Was has been reborn as a sentient suit of armor and it’s one of the coolest looking miniatures in the Lumineth Realm-lords range. Today, we’re getting a bit more on the lore of The Light of Eltharion and also a look at a few of his stats and rules. Let’s get to it!
Known as Eltharion the Grim, he was a champion of the aelvan race long ago in the world-that-was – a consummate duellist and gifted leader in both war and peace. He fell to Arkhan the Black in the End Times, but his essence was never claimed by Nagash, and pieces of it lingered on…
Teclis, through great effort, found and assembled the scattered energy of Eltharion’s spirit. He forged a new suit of armour and a pair of blades that would feel familiar to his old friend – and then he bound Eltharion’s soul to them. Now, this ancient champion fights ferociously in a new form, leading the Lumineth with powerful telepathic commands.
The Stats
So far, we know that he’s going to be packing 7 wounds and a 3+ save – not too shabby for a close-combat focused character. He’s also got a special rule that “makes him pretty tough to take out.” That comes in the form of his Spirit Armour Rule:
His two blades are also pretty deadly:
On top of some killer profiles, the Fangsword is even better when he charges into combat thank to its own special rules:
That’s 4 attacks that are going to hit on 2s and wound on 2s when he charges with a Rend of -3 and D3 damage. Yikes! If you get really lucky and roll 6s, you also get 1 mortal wound per attack. That’s a potential of 16 damage from JUST his sword. It’s unlikely but that doesn’t make it any less scary. Oh and then his Celennnari Blade gets to swing, too. And we’re not even done yet. He’s also got ANOTHER special rule called Supreme Swordmaster that makes him even deadlier!
So yeah. Forget that potential 16 damage. It’s actually 32 damage if you roll all 6s to hit AND wound for JUST his Fangsword. With the Blade added in, that’s another potential 12 damage. 44 damage from this guy in close-combat?! Yeah, that’s super-duper low odds of doing all that, but still…
And finally, he’s also got an ability that allows him to be a threat at range, too as “he can fling searing darts of light from his gauntlets in the shooting phase” – which sounds pretty cool.
The Light of Eltharion is a great mode and has some pretty great rules to boot. I’m betting we’re going to see him in lots of collections down the road.
