Games Workshop: Signs of US Warehouse Reopening
GW is moving ahead to reopen as fast as possible. It looks like North America won’t be long now.
GW has already opened up their webstore for the UK and most of Europe. Things are still officially down for
- USA
- Canada
- Australia
- Italy
With North America taking up so much of GW’s revenue it is probably a top priority. However the stay in place situation in the United States is a patchwork of 50 legal statutes that vary on a state by state basis. While this will make the reopening of the physical GW stores troublesome, the GW main warehouse is located in Tennessee, and all the major shipping companies are operating as usual.
Signs of Life
Tennessee has lifted their shelter in place guidelines. They are now providing a page of CDC guidelines for businesses to follow. So legally, things are back on GW’s side to reopen and it looks like they may be doing exactly that.
Independent Stockists have previously been told that the Warehouse would be reopening and they would be able to submit pre-orders that would be filled when it came back online. Messages like the one above have been making the rounds for weeks.
Stockists however have reported that this week two things have changed:
- GW stopped taking preorders.
- Several Stockists have received orders that were previously placed.
It Won’t Be Long
This all makes sense for an imminent reopening of the main North American Warehouse. GW will want to first clear out existing orders and get the hurting Independent Stockists resupplied first. Then once they have taken care of outstanding business, they can turn on the online store and begin to take new orders directly from customers.
It would start to get really complicated and messy if different parts of the world were out of sync with new products, and customers would howl, but it looks like the physical orders going out this week is the real indicator. All you GW customers in North America dying for your fix of Warhammer, probably wont have much longer to wait.
But before you get too excited remember, the individual store situation will vary widely based on where you live.
