Geekery: Bo-Katan is Joining ‘The Mandalorian’ Season 2
The second season is fully embracing all of the Clone Wars and Rebels components in season one, and looks like it’s adding yet another well known name to the growing cast. Deadline is reporting that Katee Sackhoff will be continuing her role as Bo-Katan Kryze from Clone Wars and Rebels, but in live action.
With the Darksaber in play and Ahsoka Tano’s inclusion has being confirmed this shouldn’t be too much of a shock. Bo-Katan is an integral character in the story of Tarre Vizsla’s lightsaber… which somehow changed hands after this scene and before we see it in Moff Gideon’s hands in The Mandalorian Season 1.
The rumors around the show when it was first announced pointed to it having something to do with The Siege of Mandalore. When you look at the new casting from that perspective, this starts to make a bit more sense. The specifics are going to be a pass/fail for a lot of fans, though. There have been comments about wanting the show to be its own thing rather than a tie in to the established story lines. I’d hate to see it lose its western movie sensibilities, quirks, and humor in all of this. Let’s hope it can keep all of that and manage the story they seem to be weaving through it.
The Mandalorian Season 2 hits Disney+ in October.
