Geekery: Dance Magic, Dance – ‘Labyrinth’ is Getting a Sequel
Deadline is reporting that Doctor Strange‘s Scott Derrickson is helming a sequel to the beloved fantasy movie with the Jim Henson Company on board.
There’s no word on if the new story will feature Jennifer Connelly’s heroine Sarah as an adult or any of the characters in the original, or if it will be a totally new story set in the universe. Given Lisa Henson and Brian Henson’s involvement I’m expecting a mix of puppetry and digital like we saw in Netflix’s Dark Crystal: Age of Resistance – which was gorgeous.
They have a lot of Brian Froud’s artwork to gain inspiration from (not to mention the possibility of his son’s involvement, who played baby Toby), and there are plenty of adorable and interesting characters to bring back from the 1986 movie.
The next Baby Yoda?
This has the potential to be amazing, even without the Goblin King. What direction would you like to see the sequel go? Continuation? Expansion on characters like Didymus and Ludo? Or something entirely new?
