Warhammer 40K: Ad Mech Serberys Unit Spotlight
The new Serberys units for the Adeptus Mechanics are coming with Engine War – let’s take a closer look!
Games Workshop has introduced the Serberys units as a new cavalry option for the Ad Mech. These two units function very differently in the army. One is a close-support unit while the other is more of a longer range threat and harassment unit. We’re going to take a closer look at each.
Serberys Sulphurhounds
Made up from the most aggressive members of the Skitarii clades, the Serberys Sulphurhounds are the shock cavalry of the Adeptus Mechanicus. Weakening their enemies at range with lethal phosphor weaponry, they burn holes in enemy lines with their mounts’ sulphur breath. Thanks to the interfaces with their mounts, they are even able to dual wield their pistols, blasting apart their foes. They will then circle around to mercilessly finish off any survivors, leaving nothing but the smell of burnt flesh in their wake.
This unit will function as the close-support unit. With their pistols and sulphur breath weapons they are going to be able to dish out quite a bit of damage up close. So use their speed to get them in range and bring the heat!
Serberys Raiders
Long-range scouts and outriders, the Serberys Raiders are often employed to outflank and harass enemy forces or to destroy high-ranking assets. Rather than using the long-range sniper weapons of other races, they prefer medium-range guns, relying on the speed of their mounts to get them into (and out of) position quickly. Their riders are equipped with advanced ocular arrays while their mounts have finely calibrated olfactory sensors. This makes the Serberys Raiders excellent trackers and hunters – no fugitive can hope to escape them.

What’s interesting about this unit is that they have medium range weapons but use their speed to create a much larger threat range. Based on their text, they might have some mean tricks for being able to pick-off particular units or characters. They aren’t traditional snipers but they can be used as pin-point assassins. The unit leader in particular has a nasty Archeo-Revolver that packs quite the punch:
Both of these new Ad Mech cavalry units are slated to release right alongside Engine War. Get hyped for the robo-dogs!
What do you think of the style of the Serberys Units? Are you going to add them to your Ad Mech forces?
