Warhammer 40K: Chaos Daemons Rules Previews From Engine War
Chaos Daemons in 40k have been waiting patiently for their rules update and it’s finally coming in Engine War! Let’s take a look at what they are getting.
You’d think in an event called Psychic Awakening that Chaos Daemons would be making a BIG push to attack all these tasty new Psykers popping up all over the galaxy. Those poor souls are like Skittles for these guys to eat. But the Chaos Daemons haven’t really been spotted all that much and it wasn’t until Engine War got announced that they really got some attention. So what are they getting in the next Psychic Awakening chapter? Today, we’re getting a little preview of their rules so let’s dive in!
“Engine War adds new Stratagems, Relics and the ability to make Greater Daemons into Exalted Greater Daemons. Yes, if you ever thought that the reality-murdering awesomeness of a regular Greater Daemon wasn’t worthy of your worship (and immortal soul) then these are for you. Find out why the Grey Knights are about to have their work cut out.”
First off, nice name drop on the Grey Knights. Too bad they have nothing to do with Engine War…And yes, looking at these rules they are about to have a much tougher time banishing Daemons back to the warp.
Unlike previous previews where we’d go based on the different topics (Stratagems, Relics, Warlord Traits, etc.) we’re tackling these based on the Chaos God they serve.
Khorne
At the cost of a single Command Point, you can turn a Bloodthirster into an EXALTED Bloodthirster. What will that do? Well, it gives you access to some new abilities. Similar to the Knight’s chart you can either randomly determine which two you’ll get, or you can opt to pick just one. I like the choice for a bit of randomness vs consistancy. One such ability is Slaughterborn:
If that’s not enough, check out one of the new relics Khorne will have access to:
And as for a new stratagem, you’ve got The Scent of Blood to use on your victims:
Send in the hounds to lock things down so your big guys can close and commence with the slaughter!
Slaanesh
Exalted Keeper of Secrets is on the menu for Slaanesh. Which means you’ll have more new abilities, too. Here’s one that’s been teased:
That’s a pretty nasty trick and while you’re hunting down those who are afraid, why not poke them with a new relic?
What would be really cool is if Slaanesh had a way to hit a unit with a morale penalty so these tricks could all go off…
Oh well, there ya go! It’s almost like GW planned it.
Nurgle
Guess who’s also getting Exalted status? Yep – Great Unclean Ones. Gross. But also fitting. Anyhow, check out this nasty new ability:
Yep. That’s gross. And also more mortal wounds. Relics? Sure why not:
How about some more mortal wounds? There’s a strat for that:
That’s why you need to social distance folks. Nurgle will get you on the way out when you get too close.
Tzeentch
The Big Bird is getting BIGGER as an Exalted Lord of Change. And yes, you guessed it more abilities open up for these death chickens:
Don’t just shut down the enemy’s psychic powers – steal them! And while you’re at it, take their Aura’s too:
That’s pretty mean! Now set them on fire with your new stratagems. Don’t kick them while they are down; Burn them.
It’s all part of the plan. Just ask Tzeentch.
Well that’s a pretty solid dose of previews for the Chaos Daemons. I can’t wait to see what else they are packing. Exalted Daemons and probably a whole lot more…
