40K: Psychic Awakening – The Ad-Mech Can Block the Warp
There are some BIG developments in Engine War. The Ad Mech have a potent new weapon of mysterious origin.
Engine War has hit the shelves and is giving the Adeptus Mechanicus a shot in the arm with a ton of new unit and rules. But the big advance in the Grimdark’s narrative is an all new weapon the Mechanicus has deployed and how it fits into the Psychic Awakening. Let’s dive into The Varlian Device.
The Varlian Device – Origins
Here is the shrouded origin of the device, gifted to Ad-Mech Dominus Kroll. The description of the Magos who offered the device is interesting.
The Varlian Device – Effects
The Device was set off mid-battle by Kroll, during a desperate battle between his Ad-Mech and allied Imperial Knight forces versus Chaos Knights and Daemons. Its effects were immediate and potent.
The Varlian Device – Aftermath
In the aftermath, Kroll was ecstatic, while the leader of the surviving Imperial Knights was… less so. But still, the device worked.
Thoughts
The origins of the device sounds a LOT like there are Necron shenaigans afoot. Who else would be all about blocking out the warp, have the tech to do it, and be willing to hand it out to potential allies? Hmmm. The device obviously works, and it’s effects at close range are much deadlier than only psykers being affected. The explosion killed Skitarii and Knights sitting upon their thrones outright. Now the question is can the Ad-mech mass produce these things, and if so… what would they do with them?
