D&D: Avalanche Minis From GF9
The new D&D storyline is borne of ice and cold and winter–and come take a look at these awesome new minis that GF9 is making to accompany it.
It’s an Icewind Dale-stravaganza today as we get a glimpse at all the new miniatures that Gale Force 9 is putting out to accompany the new D&D storyline: Avalanche, which kicks off with Rime of the Frostmaiden. There are some truly glorious new minis on display here, though fair warning, these are some of the monsters you’ll find included in the adventure which means that there’s a potential for spoilers here if you want to go into this storyline completely untouched. But take a look:

First up we have the Frost Giant Ravager–here’s a powerful fighter ready to bring the hammer down on your whole day.
Keeping the winter theme going with the Ice Troll, an old familiar face, redone in stylish GF9 paints and sculpts. Look at the detail on those sinewy muscles.
My personal favorite of the new bunch, the Ice Witch–this mini is armed with a frozen sword and appears to be launching some kind of ice bird? What more do you need?
If you’re adventuring in the wintry north it is a requirement that there be a yeti. Here it is.
Very curious to see how this Dragon of Black Ice will play out. Note how it appears to be wearing clothing/armored plates… wonder what that signifies? Is it “of Black Ice” because it’s somehow connected to whatever is keeping the sun out of Icewind Dale?
Once the party kills the Frost Giant Ravager from up above, they can deal with its skellington too.
Then this gorgeous pair of slightly more NPC/heroic figures, a winter wolf and barbarian, who look like they’ve been starring in their own, separate adventure just off screen.
This is probably going to be a crowd pleaser–everyone loves a snowy owlbear, and this one is a beautiful example of why.
Fun fact, Tekeli-li is a cry of woe and suffering uttered by Shoggoths in HP Lovecraft’s Mythos.
I am not a hundred percent certain what is happening here or how I feel about it, but this mini is compelling.
Chwingas are elemental spirits that can bestow a friendly magical gift on creatures they like. You want them on your side.
Gonna guess that a guy named Xardorok Sunblight is definitely connected to the fact that the sun is missing in Icewind Dale.
Finally there’s Auril herself, the goddess of winter in what seems to be three different forms, including the monster on the cover of the book.
These are all due out later this year, so check back for more on when to pre-order and final versions!
Happy Adventuring!
