Another D&D Live Announcement that we’re excited about: the D&D and Stranger Things comic series you didn’t know you wanted until just now.

One of the many awesome stories announced at the D&D Live event, Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons is a crossover story, brought to you by Jim Zub and Jody Houser, that tells the story of the kids from Stranger Things before they met Eleven. This looks at the origins of the infamous D&D Campaign that unites the Mike, Will, Dustin, and Lucas as they face down with a Thessalhydra.

Of course, it wouldn’t be Stranger Things if it didn’t feature Eleven–and later Max–at some point, so as they revealed at the comics panel, they’ll be making an appearance too. Come and see how D&D shaped the adventures behind Stranger Things in this crossover comic, coming in November.

Stranger Things and Dungeons & Dragons

This comic is something of a period piece–in that during the announcement panel, Zub and Houser mentioned that they’ve been looking at the kind of D&D the kids would’ve been playing in the show–so you won’t be seeing any 5th Edition nonsense here. Instead it’ll be a trip into the purest of 80s nostalgia, complete with details like d20s that don’t go up to 20, crayoned in dice, and more.

If you haven’t been reading the D&D comics (which you absolutely should), you’ll want to check out this one.

Speaking of D&D comics though, they also announced the newest D&D comics storyline: At the Spine of the World, which features new adventurers setting off into the frozen north, and will be written by Aimee Garcia and AJ Lee (yes that AJ Lee) setting off on an adventure that ties in nicely with the upcoming Rime of the Frostmaiden. This one’s scheduled for October 2020, so if you can’t get enough winter…just wait until winter.
