Warhammer 40K: Necron Range Temporarily Out of Stock

Games Workshop has listed the majority of Necrons as Out of Stock on their website. Gee, I wonder why?

So a few days ago I wrote up some suggestions on what to purchase next after the Indomitus Boxed set. That was specific for the Space Marines and I was going to do the same for the Necrons. The only problem? Well, it appears as if their current models have phased out from the US Webstore from GW. I’m sure they will be back…eventually.

The Necrons on the US Site – a whole lot of Out of Stock

Other than the sweet new Illuminor Szeras, the Necrons appear to be taking a nap until 9th. Why would GW pull/run out of Necrons right before 9th edition as they seem to be the other army that is getting the focus. They ARE featured in the launch box after all.

So what’s the deal? Where did all the Necrons go? Was there a run on Necron models on the webstore in preparation for the new edition? Quite possible! But it kind of lines up with a major refresh of the Necron Range from GW. On top of all the new units in the boxed set we know there are another 7 units on the way.

Maybe GW is putting a hold on the Necrons as they want to rebox them all to give them the 9th Edition look. Now seems like a really good time to do it. This would be the launch of the new edition after all.

At the same time, this only appears to be the case on the US Site. Maybe it’s just a supply issue after all. There could have been a run on the Necrons here in the US and a batch of Necrons could be on the way shortly. But regardless of that – why isn’t there a Start Collecting! Box for the Necrons?

They had one…Where did it go?

The supply is limited in the US and the demand will spike after the new edition. We should see a new wave of Necrons after the new edition anyhow – but you have to wonder how manufacturing of these models has been impacted. GW had a slate of new releases on deck that all appear to have been pushed back due to the shutdowns (which is totally understandable). Maybe this is just more fallout because of that…

So what would be the next steps for Necrons if they were in stock? Honestly – I’d wait. Get the Indomitus Necrons and get them ready to play. Try some games at 1000 points first with the new models. And just wait for the new stuff. Maybe snag an Illuminor if you really want to get your hobby on. But wait for a new book/new wave of models. You KNOW they are on the way!

They waited a couple million years to wake up. What’s a couple more weeks/months?
