Warhammer 40K: Should You Pre-Order Indomitus

At that price point? For those Models? This one is pretty obvious.

Look, I’m not here to tell you how to spend your hobby money. However the answer to “Pre-Order or Not to Pre-order” really boils down to one question: Do you want either the Space Marines and/or Necrons from the boxed set? If the answer is “yes” then you absolutely should Pre-Order Indomitus.

We have confirmation that the price point is $199. That’s going to be a crazy good deal. Consider the fact that a single box of Primaris Intercessors costs $60. Or that a lone Space Marine Character costs $35. This box has 5 Space Marine Primaris characters to start. If you added up the estimated costs of each Space Marine character and the 10 man Assault Intercessor Squad you’re already over $200. And we haven’t even gotten to the Bikes, Eradicators, or Blade Guard. Or the book. Or the Necrons. You get the idea.

Here’s a few other factors to consider. The Launch Box is a limited run. While Games Workshop has probably made a literal boat-load of boxed sets, that doesn’t mean that the supply is infinite. This boxed set won’t be around forever and at that price folks are already chomping at the bit to get it.

Games Workshop is also limiting online Orders to Three (3) per order. Yeah – You read that right. Here’s the quote from GW:

“Indomitus looks like it’s going to be a popular boxed set – and it’s no surprise with all those gorgeous models. We’ve made a lot of it (like, really, a lot) because we know that there are absolutely loads of you out there eager to get your hands on it and conquer the galaxy.

We want to make sure that as many of you who want a copy as possible can get one, so we’ll be setting a limit of 3 Indomitus boxed sets per order on games-workshop.com.

We told you a while back that this limit would be six copies, but on reflection, we think that three will help ensure that even more hobbyists end up happy.”

They were going to make the limit Six (6) per order but dropped it to 3 to ensure more people could get it. Who needs 6 copies of this boxed set?! I dunno – but at the same time, I could totally see people buy six copies of it!

If you do decide to directly Pre-Order this from GW you can score some nice extras:

Honestly, these are nice add-ons, but they aren’t the real reason you should get those Pre-Orders in. No, the real reason you should Pre-Order (again, if you WANT anything out of the box) is because the Indomitus Boxed Set isn’t going to last long. If you don’t want it – don’t buy it. That seems pretty simple. However, if you do want it, you might want to let your FLGS know and see if they are doing Pre-Orders as well because if you don’t get it from them or GW, get ready to pay a whole lot more on Ebay…

Do you want the box? If “yes” then Pre-Order it. Pretty simple.
