Goatboy’s 40K: Imperial “Janky” List Inspired by MtG
Goatboy here with a Magic the Gathering inspired 40k “Janky” list mashing up the Adeptus Custodes & the Unforgiven. Take a look.
Goatboy here again and this is something I thought about the last few weeks. I remember way back in my Magic playing days I loved a deck called Jank. It was a deck built upon a few good creatures, lots of color combinations, and just kind of a janky way to win. I have thought about this and thought – what kind of Janky weird deck can I get by smashing two Imperial armies and create a weird fast hybrid of nonsense? Of course since I want to go small and effective I started with Custodes. From there – well I thought why not try out some Dark Angels (even though this might all change when the new book comes out). With that as the initial seed of thought – let’s get on with the build.
The real reason I wanted to build this list idea is to figure out how to use and abuse Ravenwing Talon Masters. Of course since they don’t get a reroll to hit I needed to figure out how to Add in Sammie to make it all fight together. Since I wanted to go Custodes it means I don’t have a ton of points to play with – so it ends up being two Patrols, some weird biker options, and my desire to zoom around the table and throwing out bullets. I also thought it would be cool to have the Sniper Talon Master option as well. Ya know – to shoot bad guys.

Tactics
That’s right – I got to 0 on my CP cuz I want to give everyone something neat! Is this list any good. Oh probably not but it is super fast, can go get stuff, and could be very deadly when they get there. My only worry is I could have found ways to have some CP to do some crazy bike stuff. Still – you zoom around, throw some dice, and maybe hold an objective or two. The whole vehicle plus being a character thing also creates some weird interactions with stuff. Just look at the double Daemon Princes somehow blocking for each other.
