Warhammer 40K: Forge World – Look Who Got Cut
We have the full list of what units are getting rules in the new Forge World book. Let’s see who didn’t make it.
We just got the full Table of Contents from the new 9th Edition Imperial Armour book from Forge World. It’s a big book and clocks in at a massive 191 units. So we went through the Munitorum Field Manual and cross-referenced it to see who got left behind in the mists of 40K history. Over 80 units didn’t make it.

Thoughts
There are more cuts than I expected. Lots of these are expected such as the very minor variations from codex units like the Predator and Leman Russ variants, or oddballs that are better suited to narrative play like the Atlas Recovery Vehicle or the T’au Technical Drones.
What was more surprising is the retirement of large portions of ranges like the Death Korps, and Eldar Corsairs. Then we get the wholesale removal of the Misc page including all the oddball items from Blackstone Fortress. Goodbye Ambull, we hardly knew ya…
To me, this is sad but not unexpected. I expect many of these to move over to Warhammer Legends. The galaxy is a big place and people can use these lost items to ake all kinds of Crusade Campaigns, and the like. I view this list as being similar to the list of permitted cards for Magic the Gathering or X-Wing tournament play. It’s a deliberate subset designed to keep the Matched Play environment fair and controllable – something that slipped out of the Designers’ hands during 8th edition.
