I’m terrible at waiting to open my presents, so it’s a good thing the doors are digital.

Well, it’s that time of the year again, when all the little squigs put their stocking under the tree and Logan Grimnar brings presents to all the good kids in his power sled. As such, GW has graced us with a Rumor Advent calendar, to tease the releases for 2021, and we’re all itching to crack all the windows and see what’s coming up.

I have a lot of things I want to see or have confirmed under the little digital doors, so here’s three things I’d love to have teased by the Advent Engine.

Vampires

We’ve already seen a lot of previews that seem to point in this direction (the elegant long blade, the rapier, whatever the heck is chasing Johann) so it seems likely that we will see more from this. Vampires could be a fun thing for Nagash to unleash as an answer to a stronger Morathi and a released Slaanesh, and there’s no way in Shyish that the God of Death is going to sit out Broken Realms, especially since his greatest rival Sigmar is a little indisposed. It will be interesting to see what sort of new toy he unleashes, but it seems like a good bet we’ll see a Soulblight resurgence.

Umbraneth”

Surprising no one, I’m still digging for my old boy to make a return to the global stage, and now seems like the perfect time. With the new type of aelf teased by the Shadowstalkers, it seems like a sure thing that Malerion will return to deal with his traitorous mother.

It helps also that he is mentioned in the BR:Morathi book as one of the targets of her ire, so it would be great to see him finally dust off his magic sword to put Mommy Dearest in her place. A race of half-shadow Aelves would be amazing, and I’d love to see more emphasis on Cold One style cavalry as in days of old. And speaking of new Aelves…

Wood Aelves

A lot of the Wanderers range vanished with the new Cities of Sigmar book, and I’ve noticed that GW likes to phase out old armies so they can replace them with something new. It would be awesome to see a shooting focused Aelf army again, with magic bows and special cover movement, maybe something Alarielle made to counter the Scathborn. This definitely feels like reaching to me, but a boy can dream, and I would love for OG Wood Elves to return to the scene.

What do you hope is under the Advent doors for the Mortal Realms?
