These new Contekar Night Lords Terminators look awesome – and could find their way into any Chaos Space Marine Army.

The Horus Heresy is still kicking out some amazing models and today we’re taking a closer look at the new Contekar Night Lords Terminators. This particular unit would look right at home in a Heresy Era army, but has the look of a unit that would fit right in with the Chaos Terminators of today.

“During the Horus Heresy, the Contekar were the Night Lords’ premier shock troops, adept at sowing panic and dismay among their enemies.

Haughty and aloof, the Contekar were made up of recruits from Nostramo’s ruling elite. Long before the Night Lords turned Traitor, they carried this arrogance as a badge of honour and would only fight alongside those they deemed worthy. And they deemed very few to be worthy.”

Look at these guys! They are BRUTAL looking. Are those Butcher’s Aprons? No. Those are tabards made of flayed flesh. That is some Khorne Berzerker stuff right there. And those helmets? Yeah – Skullmasks. Gee, I wonder where they got that idea from…

Anyhow…I not saying these guys are devotees of Khorne, but I don’t think they are very far off. I know the Night Lords tend to be viewed as an unaligned Traitor Legion when it comes to Chaos Gods. However, based on the look of these guys, I could see them taking a turn towards the Skull Throne.

Their load-out also fits in with the current crop of Chaos Terminators when you think about it:

“Each member of a Contekar unit typically carries a heavy flamer into battle so they can easily burn enemy armies, infrastructure, and agriculture to little more than ash. They also use a Nostraman chainblade, to cut down any that escape their fiery wrath, or occasionally an Escaton power claw. This brutal weapon combines the energy field and mass acceleration of a power fist with the shredding talons of a lightning claw, making it perfect for anyone who can’t choose between their two favourite weapons.”

Okay, sure, every model DOES come with a heavy-flamer and that’s probably overkill – or at least not possible to field with the current rules for Chaos Terminators. But they would make really cool unit champs or the “heavy weapon” guy for a unit. Or you could just load them up for an actual Horus Heresy Night Lords Army which would honestly be pretty cool, too. Games Workshop has rules for those if you wanted to download them:

In anycase, these models look great and could easily be incorporated into just about any Chaos Army with very little conversion work. Even if you’re not playing games set in the Horus Heresy, it’s always good to keep an eye out for the models that are being made for it – you never know when one is going to be a perfect fit for your next army project!

Any Night Lord fans out there going to add these to their list? Let us know what you think of these models in the comments!
