What on earth is the Mystery product?
Death Guard Make a Splash
Death Guard are here and the simultaneous whining of them being overpowered and underpowered means that at long last 40K is healing and returning to normality. Yup, it looks like Mortarion is a monster, and the death guard have a lot of spicy new stats and weapons. But they lost some crazy combos, and strats, along with some marine special rules like Shock Assault. Some people think this makes them weak, but I think GW did a great job and they are unique now – which is way better than just being Codex CSM with +1 toughness.
The Seminar
It’s looking like 2021 will be swinging back to Age of Sigmar with some whispers that a 3rd edition is due this summer. We will see. In any case, we have new Lumineth and a new Vampire faction revealed this week! Yay. We have all waited a long time for old WFB’s Vampire Counts to be reinvented, but it looks like the time is now. The weekend reveal seminar is covering a lot of the side games for GW and one big Mystery. No idea on that one, but there are rampant whispers that it may be Battlefleet Gothic being relaunched. Let’s wait 12 hours and see.

I finished those Immortis Guard for my Ossiarch Bonereapers!
I think they turned out pretty okay – I’m happy with them to this point. It’s hard to make out, but I used some Hardcoat on the blades to make them shiny. All the blades in the army are that way. If nothing else, I can field them in my army and be happy with the way they fit in. It’s been a while since I feel like I “completed” a project. It felt pretty good. Hopefully, I can use this momentum to knock out a few more projects. Just going to take it one step at a time.

Last week I wrote about how much I missed Battlefleet Gothic, a game a hold near and dear. Now all of a sudden the internet is a swarm with rumors that the game is getting relaunched. I swear when I was writing stuff up last week I had no idea of these rumors. They might not even end up being true, but it would be pretty rad if less than two weeks after I write about missing the game, we get an announcement of its relaunch.
This week I’ve got some reading on my plate. First up is Avenging Son, which I am finally getting around to. The book kicks off the Dawn of Fire series, which follows the course of the Indomitus Crusade. This is supposed to be a long multi-book series, like the Horus Heresy, and to make it work they’ve already retconned the 8th Edition timeline. It should be an interesting read.
Light of the Jedi is the other book on my plate. This book kicks off the equally, if not more, important High Republic Era in Star Wars. This promises to be a major cross-media era, with books, comics, and shows; at least so far, telling the story of the Jedi, and the Republic, at their height. It’s exciting to be digging into major storylines, in two franchises I really love. Though I will admit, it’s always a bit hard to get get started on a big series when it first comes out, knowing I’ll have to wait many years to see how it all plays out. Sometimes I think it’s better to wait till a series is most of the way done, like say Game of Thrones, then when you get started it should be a short wait for the last books. That always works out.

This week saw me work on some Death Guard – lots of fun there. Beyond that, I am super excited for the DG release and to get a chance to play with all my Plague Marines. I knocked out my Mortarion, a few Daemon engines, and just got more excited to see the new models hit the tabletop. Oh and I knocked out a new comic.

Hello and Happy Friday Adventurers! I’m not sure about you, but I have nothing going on at the moment aside from looking forward to some WandaVision, videogames, and sleeping in. I miss having real weekend plans.
Life will find a way with next’s week’s D&D sheets, and we’ll be joining our inner children with some D&D toys.
~Talk to all you folks next week!
