‘Zack Snyder’s Justice League’ Arriving in March
The director’s new cut of The Justice League is coming to the small screen faster than expected.
Justice League didn’t get off on the right foot due to being the following up to the fan base splitting after Batman v Superman, and it continued to falter due to Snyder’s departure during post-production to take care of his family after his daughter’s death. Joss Whedon took over directing duties and finished the movie released in theaters. The new version adds on several hours of new footage and brings the story more in line with what Snyder intended.
Since the initial announcement, the project has gotten substantially larger than just cutting together existing footage with some quick re-shoots to fill in gaps. A large portion of the original cast is returning for new scenes. The director has added on Jared Leto as Joker, Joe Manganiello as Deathstroke, teased the inclusion of Martian Manhunter, and rumors are saying Darkseid is getting his right-hand man DeSaad. Names have been flying all over the place for a few months.
We’ll get to finally find out who is involved in the story sooner than expected. The release date of Snyder’s re-cut has been moved up from “summer 2021” to March 18th. You’ll be able to watch on HBOMax and several international platforms (not announced yet). They have also partnered with a meal service that has created JL themed meals that you can order.
This release will be a test – will this new cut actually change some minds about the movie and the direction of the DC Extended Universe? Will fans that petitioned to have it made be satisfied with it?
