Warhammer 40K: Kill Team – Space Marine Upgrades Ahead
The Space Marines are heading into the Pariah Nexus in the upcoming Kill Team boxed set – and they have some new upgrades to match!
Kill Team: Pariah Nexus isn’t just bringing the Heavy Intercessors, it’s also got a bunch of new upgrades and tweaks ahead for the rest of the Space Marines as well. If you’ve got the models from the Indomitus Box (or their subsequent kits) then you’ve got access to some fantastic new options in Kill Team. Let’s take a look at a few.
Bladeguard Veteran Datasheets
“Veteran commanders of Space Marine kill teams have been waiting with bated breath for the chance to field some of the Indomitus boxed set’s most celebrated heroes. After cleaning the last few bits of Necron off their master-crafted power swords, the Bladeguard Veterans are more than ready to join the fierce close-quarters battlefields they excel in.”
That’s right – the Bladeguard Veterans are getting datasheets. They are going to bring their 3 attack profiles along with all their favorite tools to the skirmish-sized tabletop. Plus, these guys are going to get access to the improved versions of their weapons. Those codex updates from 9th edition are starting to make their way to Kill Team:
Even More Datasheets
It’s not just the new Bladeguard that are getting in on the Kill Team action. Listed in the article were also the following units getting Datasheets:
- Heavy Intercessors
- Assault Intercessors
- Primaris Captains (expanded options)
- Primaris Lieutenants (expanded options)
- Judiciar
And it’s sounds like even more. In fact, and I’m just guessing here, it sounds like the Honored of the Chapter are getting rules for Kill Team:
Makes sense seeing as how they are getting a new release as well. Again, this isn’t 100% confirmed, but look at the units listed above and then the picture and do the math.
Classic Marine Updates
It’s not just the fancy new Primaris that are getting the upgrade – it’s also the firstborn Space Marine as well. This is going to be good news for Deathwatch fans.
“No longer do firstborn Space Marines have a single solitary Wound keeping them on their feet, as every true Space Marine* in the roster now has the 2 Wounds we know they always deserved. This will come as an extra-special treat to Deathwatch players, whose iconic Veteran squads are now twice as tough across the board for no extra cost.”
Yep! Deathwatch Kill Teams just got twice as tough for no change in points! That’s a deal right there. And the improvements don’t stop there. In total, the Space Marines are going to get 22 new tactics and the Deathwatch are getting 19 that are unique to them. The Xenos Hunters are going to be welcomed by their brothers in the Pariah Nexus – and feared by their enemies!
From the looks of these improvements, it appears that Games Workshop is gunning to make Space Marines more inline with their Codex Counterparts for Kill Team. Many of these changes exist in some manner for the current Space Marine codex already. These changes are just not filtering down to Kill Team. We saw this already with the Necrons yesterday and I’m sure we’re going to see this trend continue as more armies get codex updates and tweaks.
