Warhammer 40K: Who’s Next? Sisters, Orks, or Ad Mech
The Warhammer 40,000 Codex Crystal Ball has gone quiet. Let’s go back to launch day to figure out who’s slated for a new book: Sisters, Orks, or Ad Mech.
Games Workshop hasn’t revealed who’s next yet. We had some speculation and we’ve been waiting on this particular batch of models for a while – since Launch Day for 9th edition, in fact. But maybe these models are the clues as to what’s coming. If that is the case, then the next three books might be closer than we think.
Launch Day Tease
Just to jog your memory – here’s the Launch Day Teaser video as a reminder:
We got the Lord of Virulence with the Death Guard book. And we know Lelith is on the way (probably with the Drukhari Book – coming soon). That leaves the other three models: The Sisters of Battle Palatine, the random Ork (could be a Boy or a character), and the Adeptus Mechanicus model.
Adeptus Mechanicus Model
Ork Model
Based on the Launch Day Teaser and what we’ve learned since then, of these three (Sisters, Orks, Ad Mech), it seems like the Adepta Sororitas are probably the closest to getting a wider release. Why? Well, don’t forget about there new battlesuit.
We’ve gotten more teasers for the Sisters than the other two factions which is why we think they are in the lead here. The question then becomes the timeline on these releases. And of course when does the Book of Rust drop?
Perhaps the Adeptus Mechanicus model will be released alongside this book as they are also a part of this campaign setting.
The long and short of this is that we’re still in the dark on what releases are next after the Drukhari book. It’s unclear as to when these factions are going to get their codexes or when these models will get to hit the tabletop. But, if I were a betting man, I’d go with Sisters getting a new batch of rules before the other just due to the fact that they have two models that have been teased vs the others. It’s not much to go on, but right now, that’s pretty much all we got.
And as a reminder there are still a plethora of armies out there that ALSO need codexes. It’s a little overwhelming to think about actually. In previous editions GW has cranked out a codex or more in a month. 8th edition in particular had a breakneck pace of releases for codexes. But the world has changed and things have had to slow down and adjust. Couple that with Brexit complications and GW has had to re-jigger plans. Personally, I’m hoping they take this slow down as extra time to work on the upcoming books and really nail them down and get them right. We’ll see when they get here…eventually.
Are the Sisters, Orks, or Ad Mech next on deck? Or do you think it will be a completely different army? Let us know in the comments!
