A word of warning to the enemies of the Lumineth. The mountain spirits of Hysh aren’t the only ones that are mad…

The new Broken Realms book, and by extension the new Lumineth tome, bring a brand new breed of aelementari to the battlefield in the form of the Hurakan. These aelves devoted to the Hyshian winds and the fox-antelope spirits that represent them bring a lot of new and exciting power to the table. Here are the three coolest things (in my opinion at least) about the upcoming Hurakan force and what they’ll bring to the table.

They’re Incredible Shots

The Kangaroo riding Hurakan Windchargers have a pretty amazing shooting profile, to say nothing of the Wind Spirits or Severith himself. The Spirits have 4 shots that hit on a 2+, wound on a 3+, and deal d3 damage with a -2 rend, or -3 from Severith. They also have a ton of special rules that allow them to disengage from combat and shoot, so they can kite the enemy around without having to worry about combat reprisal. If you want to play a hit-and-run style army but like Aelves better than Stormcast, definitely give these guys a…shot.

They Can Fly (sort of)

The Hurakan Wind Spirits and Windmages can harness the power of the wind to fly across the battlefield, the spirits because they are living tornados, and the Windmage by riding on an air current they made with their powerful fans. The Windchargers, not to be outdone, ride Treerunner steeds that can leap around obstacles in the way, so they can ignore obstacles in the same manner as a flying creature, but since they aren’t actually flying, they aren’t affected by anti-fly spells or abilities. Combined with their ability to deny cover bonuses to their shooting targets, that means there’s no escape from the Hurakan if they’ve got their eyes on you.

They are FAST

That’s to be expected of wind spirits and their devotees or course, but man, can these guys motor. The spirits especially are insanely fast, with a Move value of 24″ and an ability to move an additional 12″ at the end of the movement phase. Wherever these guys want to be, they will in a turn or two max.

Will you be adding the Hurakan to your Lumineth army?
