D&D Accessories: Get Inspiration With These Bard Tools
Music and instrument themes make for beautiful D&D accessories if you happen to play a bard who deserves to be spoiled with special dice and dice boxes.
Bards are the jacks of all trades of D&D; decent at most things while not usually being the best, but always so much fun to play. If you’re currently playing a bard or you think a high charisma character may be in your future, maybe these bardly table tools will help give you a little extra inspiration. As always, links to buy are in the title.
Lute Dice
Nothing is more quintessentially the bard aesthetic than lutes, so dropping some of the tiniest lutes into sky blue dice lets the entire table know exactly what your character is going to be from the start. The bronze instruments match the color inking in the numbers for a look that’s smart and put together, and since they’re not hand-made dice, they should be well balanced for gaming even with the small lute inside.
Bard Box
Inspired by the instruments a bard may play, this 3D printed box looks like it has a playable finger piano right on the cover – which would only be more fun if it were somehow a functional finger piano. This box comes in a pretty huge variety of colors including a dual-color custom print to match the exact flavor of outlandish your bard leans into.
Inspiration Tokens
It can be difficult to just remember that you have inspiration to add to your roll. Sometimes writing it down is a good reminder, but between noisy character sheets and pages of regular campaign notes, it’s not uncommon for that message to get lost until exactly three seconds after your turn has already ended. Sometimes I’ll hand a corresponding die to the receiving party member, but oftentimes I travel with the number of dice I need to play and that’s it. This is where inspiration tokens are helpful. A physical reminder of your upcoming boost that you can’t ignore and give back when you’ve used the inspiration, these tokens are as functional as they are pretty.
Note Dice
No matter what your instrument of choice is as a bard, you’re probably playing music. Maybe your bard can’t read sheet music, but they’ll generally recognize what notes look like and they’d appreciate these musically inclined dice. If your character is a little more musically inclined than you, don’t be intimidated by these dice – the number correlates to the number of beats on the dice face, so if you can count to six you can be ready to impress everyone at your gaming table.
Lute Dice Box
If you’re a fan of the simpler, thin dice boxes like I am, this is one of the most beautiful boxes for your bard’s dice I’ve seen. These boxes are made to order, made of cherry wood, and lined in felt to keep your dice safe with a carved design that will be durable and easy to bring anywhere you need. The turnaround time on this set may be a little longer, but it will have been worth the wait.
