MTG: Artifact Spoilers Unveiled
Time Spiral Remastered has some wonderful toys in store–today’s reveal is a short spoiler, but it showcases some of the most powerful artifacts in TSR.
Artifacts have a place in any deck, even Mono Red. Especially Mono Red. These colorless powerhouses can always be counted on to make life easier for you, miserable for your opponents, or both if that’s what you need. Let’s take a look at what lies in store.
First up, Lotus Bloom, the promo card for the set. Very much a nod to Black Lotus, but it’s got suspend to represent the fact that it’s been Timeshifted for the new set. Even better though, as you can add three mana of any one color–and with plenty of ways to manipulate time counters in this set, there’s a lot of fun to be had here. And having three extra mana is NEVER a bad plan.
Speaking of time shifted things, Crystal Shard will make sure that you’re never going to have to deal with a creature unless you absolutely want to. Or that your opponent is low on mana and can’t use one of the many fun new counterspell-ish cards or removal spells we’ve seen spoiled over the last few days.
Cranial Plating is a very good way to make the rest of these artifacts work for you. This fits in especially well when you run an artifact heavy deck.
Chalice of the Void is always a good choice, speaking of counters. It will help make sure your opponent doesn’t have a turn–just make sure you do it once you’ve suspended everything so you’ve already cast what you need to cast and you don’t get hoisted by your own control petard.
