Warhammer 40K: 5 Biggest Models From Games Workshop
We’re not talking about Forge World – it’s time to take a look at the 5 biggest plastic models Games Workshop makes and you can buy now!
Everyone loves a cool looking BIG model. Well, Games Workshop has some monster kits in their line-up. If you’ve ever wanted to go big then these are the one to take you there. We’re only looking at the plastic kits from Games Workshop that are available right now, so no Forge World this go. So let’s dive in!
Okay, these are technically TWO different models and two different kits. But instead of loading up this list full of Knights (we are already including many of those), we’re just going to include them both together. Anyhow, these kits are massive. They are some of the largest ones available in plastic and pack a punch in the game, too. If you’re looking for a fun project and a BIG kit to play with, the Knight Castellan (or Valiant) has your back!
Khorne Lord of Skulls
This model is huge. It’s what happens if you took a Khorne Berzerker, made him knight sized, added tank tracks, a belly cannon, and a whole lot of junk in the trunk. The Lord of Skulls might be a little on the silly side but it’s big enough to be able to take the punishment or dish it out! Are those khorne juggernaut heads on randomly placed on this model? Yes. Yes those are.
Chaos Knights
We could have gone with their Imperial counter parts, but technically these are larger. Why? cause they got more spikes. And that’s really about it. Oh and their legs – don’t forget about those backwards facing knee joints. Yeah! See – they ARE larger.
Chaos Knights and Imperial Knights are some of the largest kits GW makes in plastic. Take your pic from the Knight Desecrator above or the Rampager or their Imperial versions – these models are still large and in charge. Plus, they are only *slightly* smaller than Castellans. Knights…they are the big kits!
Tesseract Vault
It was a bit of a toss up between the Tesseract Vault and the new Monolith model (which is also huge). But why did we opt for this older model? Because it’s floating for starters! But also, I think this angle really helps explain the size of this model:
This is a BIG footprint. Sure, it’s “only” on a flyer base but it shoots out over the tabletop in a most imposing manner. The Tesseract Vault also seems like it would be a bit of a nightmare to travel with. But maybe it’s just me. Anyhow, this model is still one of the largest and is still available from GW!
Baneblade
It’s almost comical to look at this picture and think “oh that doesn’t look to large” – except it’s IS. It’s bigger than a Land Raider. Plus you can load-up the turrets on a Baneblade and have even more firepower. This used to be one of the largest kits ever made in plastic (remember, it used to be resin from Forge World before). On the tabletop, it’s still got a huge footprint and dominates whatever part of the battlefield it’s on. So yeah – never forget the Baneblade is still one of the largest kits from Games Workshop!
Bonus: Stompa
The Stompa is only in the bonus section and not replacing the Baneblade because it’s currently out of stock online. At least in the US. I’m sure it will come back and be available, but one of the stipulations was that these were kits you could pick up from GW right now. Sorry Stompa. You’re still the super-heavy of our Waagh-filled hearts.
