In the words of Kratos, there are consequences to killing a god…

The Realms have been shaken even further by the events of Broken Realms: Teclis and some of the gods worry about the aftermath. For those who haven’t read/heard the news of the book’s events, stop reading now, as there are spoilers ahead…

For those of you still here, Nagash made a play for Hysh, and Teclis responded with extreme prejudice. Not only did he attack Nagash in his own Realm of Shyish, but he summoned the spirits of the mountains to shatter his physical body, sending his essence deep into the depths of his Black Pyramid. While he returned to his own stronghold peacocking his victory for all to hear (Teclis arrogant and annoying? Perish the thought), wiser heads warned him to prepare for the consequences. Teclis laughed it off, but I think he should’ve paid a bit more attention. Here’s what I think could be coming to fill the void left by the Great Necromancer’s destruction.

Be’Lakor

We know that the next book in the Broken Realms series will feature the first Daemon Prince, and it’s possible that without the forces of Death to check his advance, he will sweep aside a lot of the forces of Order. If he and Archaon can put aside their differences, they would have a Chaos Force unlike anything the REalms have seen, and even Teclis and Sigmar would likely be hard-pressed to stop them without help.

Soulblight

Just because Nagash is gone does not mean his Realm is without defenders. Katakros has a million different bodies that he can jump back into when he dies, and the Nighthaunt are still very much a threat. But the Soulblight vampires have largely been absent from the greater conflicts, and the death of Nagash could be just the kick in the armored pants they need. We know new Soulblight is coming because of the preview, so this could be the vanguard of Nagash’s great revenge. Of course, the alternative contender of Lord of Death is far less appealing…

Nurgle

With the loss of the Necromancer, the process of death could be returned to the natural entropic cycle as Grandfather intends it, to the detriment of the rest of the world. Nurgle taking over Shyish would be terrible for not only the souls dwelling there but the world at large. Nurgle loves his children, but his love is not gentle or kind. Only time will tell what exactly will happen, though.

Do you think Teclis will get his comeuppance?
