Today let’s take a look at the Duardin factions that are here to fight against Be’lakor – both Kharadron and Fyreslayer.

The campaign of Broken Realms: Be’lakor has a surprise return of a special Duardin figure from old who manages to unite more than a few of the factions together on a single mission. It’s a great lore nod and we’ll talk more about that later – for now, we wanted to take closer look a the Kharadron Overlords and the Fyreslayers within the book and their rules.

Drongon’s Aether-runners

This is the new Warscroll Battalion within the book and also part of the new boxed set. It’s Barak-Zilfin specific as well – sorry other guilds. It represents Endrinmaster Humboldsson and his super fast vessels. And they really are the Fastest Vessels in the Fleet. Each unit in the battalion gets an additional 3″ added to their movement characteristic! That’s just a flat movement boost for these units and a welcomed speed boost at that.

On top of that, they can also cause a Skyvessel within 3″ to ALSO get a 3″ movement boost in that movement phase. That might not seem like much, but over the course of a game that can really add up – or surprise an opponent when you snag an objective that they thought was safely out of reach. Is it worth the 120 points as a battalion? Well, considering you get the other battalion boosts and you also get to drop these as a single deployment drop, probably! If you were going to take these units anyhow, why not get the movement boost to go along with it?

Fyreslayers – Grimwrath Berzerker

The Grimwrath Berzerker received a few more tweaks to his warscroll. We already saw the new an improved axes they can throw:

Their Greataxe still hits like a truck full of bricks, too. Their Battle-fury allows them to swing again at the end of the phase on a 2+ so they get an extra round of attacks. And if you do manage to kill one, they get to seeing before they are removed from play, too! But the new hotness for this Fyreslayer hero is the new Grimwrath Oaths. Games Workshop teased three of these already:

But now we get to see the rest of them.

“I will cut down the priests of Grinir’s enemies”  – add 1 to hit and wound rolls for attacks made by this model and add 1 to the damage inflicted by those attacks if the target is a Priest that does not have the Fyreslayer keyword.

“I will guard them with my life” – Pick another non-magmadroth hero. If that hero is within 3″ of this model and NOT within 3″ of an Auric Hearthguard unit, when you allocate a wound or mortal wound to that hero on a 2+ that is instead allocated to this hero (the Grimwrath Berzeker). In addition, this hero (the Grimwrath Berzeker) get to add 1 to their hit rolls for attacks while they are within 3″ of the nominated hero.

“I will let nothing stand in my way” – this model can run and charge in the same turn. They also get to re-roll run and charge rolls.

Overall, all of these abilities are really solid and can be shaped to fit whatever roll you need the Berzerker to fill. Not bad at all!

One last thing – the Doomseeker also got some tweaks as well.
