New Star Wars Black Series Figs Pay Homage to The Clone Wars
It’s Lucasfilm’s 50th anniversary this year, which is being celebrated with a ton of new Hasbro Star Wars action figures.
New Clone Wars sculpts for ARC Trooper Echo, Ob-Wan Kenobi, Anakin Skywalker, and Clone Pilot Hawk are the latest to join. These 6-inch scale figs come in packaging with the original illustrations that last seen more than a decade ago.
The Black Series associate product designer Eric Franer talked with StarWars.com about updating the design.
“… we did look at the original 3.75-inch figures as inspiration for the card backs. With the Anakin and Obi-Wan figures in particular, we were able to use the actual illustrations from the original packaging. For Clone Pilot Hawk and ARC Trooper Echo, since these figures didn’t exist in the original 3.75-inch line, new illustrations were created to match the style of the original artwork.
In terms of the actual figures, we focus on the realistic interpretations of the characters for the Black Series. For example, the original 3.75-inch figures were styled to look like the animation, but we updated them for the Black Series.”
There’s a rumor that this will show up as Target exclusives later this year.
