Star Wars Armada: The Four Ships We Want To See Next

Here are the next ships we really want to see in Star Wars: Armada.

Star Wars Armada is a great game with a ton of ships. Right now the second wave of Clone Wars ships is coming out bringing four new amazing ships to the game. But what’s next? Lets take a look at four ships we really want to see added to the game next.

Dreadnought-Class Heavy Cruiser

The Dreadnought-Class Heavy Cruiser is a classic Star Wars ship that is loved by all. This ship goes back to the start of the EU with the Thrawn Trilogy, and was in a ton of stories. A couple years ago it was brought into the new canon making this ship fair game. It’s a ship people have been asking for in Armada for years. The ship is normally described as slow and tough, if a little undergunned. They also suffered from needing huge crews. It’s also a ship used by both the Republic, Empire and occasionally the Rebellion. This is highly asked for ship and seems like a no brainier.

Braha’tok-class gunship

Also known as a Dornean gunship, the Braha’tok-class is perhaps the most egregious omission from the Armada ship list. This ship has made on screen appearances at Endor in RoTJ, at Scarif in Rogue One and in Rebels. It’s had more movie appearances than any of the MC classes have ever gotten or even Star Wars classics like the B-Wing or TIE-Interceptor (not counting hologram camoes). The fact that it’s shown up so often, that its absence in Armada is a painful omission.

Lancer-class frigate

The Lancer-class is an Imperial dedicated anti-fighter support ship. This smaller ship carries an array of anti-squadron guns and is absolutely death to enemy fighters. It’s designed to fill a support and escort role and not something to mess with. I think it would be a great addition to the game, as not only do I like the look of the ship, but its something the game could use. Squadrons are pretty powerful in the game right now. A cheap counter to them, that isn’t just other squadrons could be a big bonus to the game. (Note: There is apparently a Lancer-class frigate mentioned in the canon YA book Before the Awakening but I’m not sure if the ship they are talking about is the same as the Imperial EU Lancer or something different with the same name.)

Subjugator-class heavy cruiser

The Subjugator–class, of which the most famous is the Malevolence, is a massive CIS war ship. This massive ship was one of the largest, if not the largest, ships of the Clone Wars. While smaller than a Super Star Destroyer, they do clock in at over 4,000 meters, or about 4 ISDs. The massive ship is packed with a ton of weapons and hangers making it quite deadly. The stand out weapons is carries are a pair (one on each side) of mega-ion cannons. These powerful weapons would be an interesting new addition the Armada and allow the designers to try out some new mechanics. On top of that I just love the idea of the CIS having a giant mega ship running around. Let’s get this in the game.
