The  Adeptus Mechanicus Weapons Are Getting Major Upgrades and Games Workshop has some previews of the new and improved weapon systems.

Things are about to get a whole lot deadlier from the Forgeworlds of the Adeptus Mechanicus. They have always packed a lot of firepower and with a major update coming soon, they are about to hit even harder. Let’s take a look at some of the new updates to old weapons that will give them a refresh for 9th edition!

via Warhammer Community

“Among the armies of the Imperium, the Adeptus Mechanicus have more than their fair share of awesome guns, and their new codex has made many of these deadlier – and more fitting of their tremendous background – than ever before. “

Galvanic Weapons

The new rifle is now classified as Heavy – but it’s gained a shot AND a flat -1 AP. No more needing to roll 6+ on the wound roll for it to get -1 AP. I’m not sure if the change to Heavy 2 is going to be *that* detrimental for them or not.

Arc Weapons

A range boost, an extra -1 AP ( bringing the total to -2), and a flat D3 vs 1 damage bump?! Nice! Plus, these weapons are even better at frying vehicles now. They wound anything with the vehicle keyword on a 4+ now – oh and they become a flat 3 damage! That makes these guns pretty scary. Even Arc Pistols have gotten the extra AP as well.

“The melee versions of arc weapons also get the new benefits against vehicles, giving your Kataphron Breachers a punch that will be sure to charge up your force. These aren’t the only close combat weapons to get a boost either. Transonic blades and transonic razors now scythe through armour with wild abandon, having gone to AP -3 for blades and AP -2 for razors.”

All around, these are some pretty significant changes for Arc Weapons in general and should increase the value of some under used units.

Cognis Weapons

To differentiate the Cognis weapons vs their standard Imperial counterparts, these weapons have been upgraded with more shots. Hey, these weapons would be straight from the factory and the Ad Mech would be the ones who know how to squeeze the most out of their weapons, right? Or maybe that cold, calculating machine logic just allows them to fire more effiencently compared to an Astra Militarum trooper. Either way, they are now able to throw more bullets (or flame) at the problem with their Congis weapons. And speaking of Cognis…

Oh man – the Twin Congins Lascannons are looking really nice now! While they didn’t get more shots, they DID get a swap to Assault 2 instead of Heavy which means you can move and fire them a lot easier. On top of that, the damage profile went from D6 to a hybrid D3+3! This is a change we’ve been advocating for lascannons in general as it makes them scarier in general. It never felt great to score that wound with a lascannon only to roll a 1 on the D6. With this version, they will do a minimum 4 damage giving you a reason to fear them!

“The torsion cannon that Kataphron Breachers can carry in place of their heavy arc rifles has had a similar upgrade, now doing D3+3 damage – and its range has doubled to a mighty 48”.”

Those aren’t the only Kataphrons to get upgraded either. The Destroyers can now overcharge their plasma without instantly destroying themselves on a 1. Instead, they *only* take a mortal wound when you roll that inevitable 1 on the die roll.

The new codex is coming and these upgrades are worth it! Let us know what you think in the comments.
