MTG: Drizzt Do’Urden And Lolth Are Magic Cards Now
Come and get a look at the latest from the upcoming Adventures in the Forgotten Realms set–Drizzt Do’Urden and Lolth, the Spider Queen are here at last.
Adventures in the Forgotten Realms will bring the world of Dungeons & Dragons crashing headlong into Magic: the Gathering, and with it come many of the legendary characters, monsters, and magic items. We’ve previously seen Tiamat, a Beholder, and even items like the Portable Hole–but today we’re getting a look at two figures who loom large in the Underdark (or directly above it), legendary ranger Drizzt Do’Urden and Lolth, the Spider Queen. Let’s check ’em out. First up, Drizzt Do’Urden, who doesn’t quite rank a comma and a name afterwards, which seems like an insult somehow.
Naming conventions aside though, Drizzt is a beast. Drizzt shows up as a 3/3 and comes with a pretty easy way to become a 7/7, but pay close attention to the fact that it’s whenever a creture dies–not whenever a creature you control–Drizzt powers up. So in the right deck, the legendary ranger will hit as hard as he hits in the book.
Sure he’ll fall to dedicated removal, but with white and green, you’re sure to have at least some means of keeping him around long enough to get that good good value. Speaking of value, check out the Spider Queen herself:
Lolth is apparently a Planeswalker now, which is sure to bode well for life within and beyond the Forgotten Realms. And on top of that, Lolth starts to grow the more things you control die–allying with Lolth is a double-edged sword. She will destroy those around her, it’s simply in her nature, but with enough sacrifice in her name, you’ll have a powerful ally that will sap the very vitality from your opponent.
