“Binding of Isaac: Four Souls” Receiving Huge Expansion, “Requiem”
The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls Requiem expansion adds a HUGE amount of new and updated content to the game!
If you’ve never played The Binding of Isaac, you’re missing out. It’s hard to explain what it is exactly that you’re missing out on, but you’re definitely missing it.
It’s a roguelike dungeon crawler with tons of bizarre visuals and themes. And the dungeon crawling card game based off of it, is no different. The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls card game currently has a huge expansion/reprint up on Kickstarter right now. This expansion is called The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls Requiem and will feature a full reprint of the original game, as well as over 200 brand new cards. Some of which could be crossover cards from other games!
There are many more, but these are my favorites. I miss Newgrounds.
Overview
Four Souls is a competitive card-based dungeon crawling game. The objective of each player is to be the first to collect four souls, which are won primarily through beating bosses with a collection of special abilities and treasures.
Each player controls a character who starts with a unique treasure. This treasure, and plenty of others are mostly permanent fixtures in a player’s item pool. As players gain money, they will be able to purchase new treasures from the shop, or draw a treasure blind from the top of the treasure deck, if they so choose.
Alongside their powerful treasures, players will have access to Loot cards, which remain in the player’s hand until used. These loot cards range from fairly mundane to very rare and powerful, like the Tarot cards which can greatly impact the course of the game.
Players will need these items as they roam the basement, hunting monsters and bosses, fumbling into traps and curses, and finding hidden rooms and chests.
When a player kills a Boss monster, they will collect its soul. The first player to collect four souls is the winner!
Review
The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls is a great game to pick up and teach to new players. There are very few rules to know, and it does a great job of fitting into the role of actually fun party game that people will enjoy playing without having to pick which card is the funniest.
The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls Requiem is up on Kickstarter right now and will offer a full reprint of the original game, as well as over 200 brand new cards, including over 19 brand new characters to play as, new monsters, new mechanics, and a whole new deck of cards.
If you like the concept of dungeon crawling card games, but find the amount of backstabbing in some other games a bit to infuriating, absolutely check out The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls Requiem.

The Binding of Isaac: Four Souls Requiem is a huge expansion of the original Binding of Isaac: Four Souls game. Fight new monsters, collect new items, play as new characters. The expansion also adds new Solo and Multiplayer game modes and a brand new ROOM deck! The Room deck shakes up game play by adding global effects to all players that modify existing mechanics and even add new ones.
