The first full trailer has more action, more story, and what looks like a character from Doctor Strange.

Phase 4 kicks off this fall with super-powered martial arts adventure Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. The character first appeared in Marvel comics in 1973 and his popularity earned him his own book – The Hands of Shang-Chi: Master of Kung Fu. He’s a wushu master, and has the ability to create duplicates of himself; he’s also been a member of The Avengers.

The movie has him confronting a past he has left behind and is drawn to a  mysterious organization called the Ten Rings – who we’ve run into before about eleven years ago. This Ten Rings is very different.

This is a long way from the false Mandarin and the Ten Rings in Iron Man 2. There’s classic Hong Kong cinema (the influence Bruce Lee had on the creation of the characters is prominent), some grand Wushu movie-style scenes, and the distinct look of the MCU universe. The cinematography looks great and it promises some epic fights.

It will be interesting to see how it fits into the next big arc – rumors have linked it to the next Doctor Strange (what isn’t right now?) because of Shang-Chi’s powers. That said, that’s Abomination and someone that looks like it could be Wong in the full trailer. Those rumors could be accurate.

This is the first Asian-led, directed, and written movie in the MCU. The movie stars Simu Liu (The Expanse, Kim’s Convenience) in the title role and he will be going head to head with the real Mandarin played by Hong Kong cinema star Tony Leung. The cast also includes Awkwafina, as well as Michelle Yeoh and Rosalind Chao. It’s directed by Destin Daniel Cretton with a script from Dave Callaham (who is a Brown-Belt in 10th Planet Jiu-Jitsu, which seems to have affected the movie in a good way).

Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings arrives in theaters on September 3rd.
