Review: Dystopian War Battlefleet Boxes Are Ready for the High Seas
The updated game comes with some great models that are really fun to build and paint.
Recently, I got my hands on the Dystopian Wars Tempelhof Battlefleet Set. I found it a lot of fun to build and want to share with you a quick review of the miniatures. If you are interested in the rules, Warcradle Studios gives them away for free. There will be a link further down in the article along with links to other resources and a video.
Now, let’s take a look at this fleet.
The box that the Tempelhof Battlefleet comes in.
On the back of the box, Warcradle shows you how you can build the miniatures. They give you multiple options for all of the minis in there!
Take a look. You can build the Destroyers three ways, the Flagship two ways and the Cruisers three ways!
Building the Miniatures
Personally, I found these miniatures a pleasure to build. In terms of complexity, these are on the simpler side of things, but there are plenty of details.
A look at the Carrier Before building it.
The Carrier itself is made out of resin but there are some plastic pieces that you attach to the mini.
A look at the Carrier built. This one was very easy to complete.
The Cruisers were more complex to build, but compared to other kits like the Americans, this kit is simple to assemble.

The Carriers turned out really nice. Check out the details in this mini. You can even see the planes underneath the runway.
I also dry-built the other two variants of the Cruisers before settling on two Carriers.
This Cruiser is set up for Close Combat. That gun is devastating up close! Now, this dry fit was a little wrong, but it was close enough to give you an idea of how it will look assembled. On top of the cab, you can put a radar or flak gun.
Here we have the Flak Ship. I really like the look of this Cruiser!
Finally, we have the Destroyers. I dry-fit both variants together before choosing one and building them all in that style.
The Prussian Destroyers. The one on the left is optimized for extremely powerful close-range attacks. The one on the right is good for medium and close-ranged attacks, but is not nearly as powerful. I went with the one on the right.
A Quick Scale Comparison
If you are unfamiliar with Dystopian Wars, the miniatures are scaled in 1/1200 scale. For those who would like to see how these ships compare to a Space Marine, here is a couple of images.
I paired the ships with a Primaris Space Marine for Scale comparison purposes.
And a shot from a higher angle so you can see how the ships compare to the Primaris Space Marine’s base.

Hopefully, you enjoyed this quick post looking at the Tempelhof Battlefleet website. Overall, these are some really fun miniatures to build and I was pleasantly surprised at how many different ways you can make the models.
