‘Captain America 4’ Will Star Anthony Mackie in the Lead Role
Anthony Mackie is stepping out of Disney+ and onto the big screen as Captain America.
Anthony Mackie has closed a deal to carry the shield and his first superhero picture in Captain America 4, sources said.
The unofficial title indicates this is Mackie’s vehicle and it’s an exceptional career moment for the Juilliard-educated actor who has been a bright spot in every film he’s appeared in. That includes the Best Picture winner The Hurt Locker, 8 Mile and The Banker, to his turns as Falcon, the wingman of Captain America who was handpicked by that superhero to succeed him. The series involved his conflict in taking on the superhero persona. Mackie played Falcon in five films beginning with Captain America: The Winter Soldier.
The project is in the very early stages, so not a lot is known right now. It’s being written by The Falcon and the Winter Soldier creator Malcolm Spellman and staff writer Dalan Musson, which means the character is in good hands for his next step. I’m hoping we get an extension of the storyline from the show. Maybe we’ll see some more characters from that corner of the MCU come with him – like Kate Bishop, Valentina Allegra de Fontaine, The Powerbroker, and Baron Zemo.
