Warhammer 40K: Black Templars Finally Get A New Emperor’s Champion
How long has it been? Since 3rd Edition? Yeah…that sounds about right. It’s time to meet the new Emperor’s Champion model in all his righteous zeal.
It’s been a LONG time coming. Black Templar faithful, your patience has been rewarded with a brand new Emperor’s Champion model.
“Wreathed in divine light, descending from the cold darkness of space with righteous fury, please be upstanding for the living miracle himself – the Emperor’s Champion.”
Check out all the cool details this model has to offer. I dig the prayer beads in his off-hand and the chest and greaves are smooth and flat – an interesting take for sure! It a lot of ways, it’s almost like a “classic knight” with very little frills on the armor. But then you’ve got a bunch of bits and bobs that add more flavor like the waist lantern or random straps. And that Iron Halo looks rad!
It’s certainly a throwback to the classic pose and honestly, this pretty much what we suggested for a new Emperor’s Champion when GW was tossing out those single models for the Space Marine books:
GW basically took the Primaris LT, added a ton of great Black Templar’s extras and preserved a lot of the same flair and pose from the older model. It’s a great re-imagining. And in case you were wondering if it was indeed a Primaris Marine…
It sure looks like the Emperor’s Champion just got the Primaris treatment! This is a great addition that’s been needed for a LONG time. I’m really glad to see this model in particular but I wonder if GW has more up their sleeves.

Wait a minute…”won’t be standing alone.” Are we about to get even more Black Templar models and/or updated units? That would be CRAZY, right? RIGHT?!
To be fair, the Black Templars never really struck me as “stable” to begin with. A little crazy seems fitting.
